Ways to speed up Windows!!!

Here I am going to talk about how you can speed up your windows and improve its performance.
  1.  If your computer have less than 512 of RAM then add the RAM. This is relativity inexpensive and most easiest way to see the dramatic improvement in you computer's performance.
  2. Ensure that Windows XP is utilizing the NTFS file system. If you're not sure, here's how to check: First, double-click the My Computer icon, right-click on the C: Drive, then select Properties. Next, examine the File System type; if it says FAT32, then back-up any important data. Next, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the prompt, type CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS and press the Enter key. This process may take a while; it's important that the computer be uninterrupted and virus-free. The file system used by the bootable drive will be either FAT32 or NTFS. I highly recommend NTFS for its superior security, reliability, and efficiency with larger disk drives.
  3. Disable file indexing. The indexing service extracts information from documents and other files on the hard drive and creates a "searchable keyword index." As you can imagine, this process can be quite taxing on any system.

The idea is that the user can search for a word, phrase, or property inside a document, should they have hundreds or thousands of documents and not know the file name of the document they want. Windows XP's built-in search functionality can still perform these kinds of searches without the Indexing service. It just takes longer. The OS has to open each file at the time of the request to help find what the user is looking for.

Most people never need this feature of search. Those who do are typically in a large corporate environment where thousands of documents are located on at least one server. But if you're a typical system builder, most of your clients are small and medium businesses. And if your clients have no need for this search feature, I recommend disabling it.

Here's how: First, double-click the My Computer icon. Next, right-click on the C: Drive, then select Properties. Uncheck "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching." Next, apply changes to "C: subfolders and files," and click OK. If a warning or error message appears (such as "Access is denied"), click the Ignore All button.
  4. Update the PC's video and motherboard chipset drivers. Also, update and configure the BIOS. For more information on how to configure your BIOS properly, see this article on my site.
  5. Empty the Windows Prefetch folder every three months or so. Windows XP can "prefetch" portions of data and applications that are used frequently. This makes processes appear to load faster when called upon by the user. That's fine. But over time, the prefetch folder may become overloaded with references to files and applications no longer in use. When that happens, Windows XP is wasting time, and slowing system performance, by pre-loading them. Nothing critical is in this folder, and the entire contents are safe to delete. To do this, just press Windows key on your keyboard + R and type in "prefetch" in the box and press enter. Press Shift+Del and do "yes".
  6. Once a month, run a disk cleanup. Here's how: Double-click the My Computer icon. Then right-click on the C: drive and select Properties. Click the Disk Cleanup button -- it's just to the right of the Capacity pie graph -- and delete all temporary files.
  7. In your Device Manager, double-click on the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers device, and ensure that DMA is enabled for each drive you have connected to the Primary and Secondary controller. Do this by double-clicking on Primary IDE Channel. Then click the Advanced Settings tab. Ensure the Transfer Mode is set to "DMA if available" for both Device 0 and Device 1. Then repeat this process with the Secondary IDE Channel.
  8. Upgrade the cabling. As hard-drive technology improves, the cabling requirements to achieve these performance boosts have become more stringent. Be sure to use 80-wire Ultra-133 cables on all of your IDE devices with the connectors properly assigned to the matching Master/Slave/Motherboard sockets. A single device must be at the end of the cable; connecting a single drive to the middle connector on a ribbon cable will cause signaling problems. With Ultra DMA hard drives, these signaling problems will prevent the drive from performing at its maximum potential. Also, because these cables inherently support "cable select," the location of each drive on the cable is important. For these reasons, the cable is designed so drive positioning is explicitly clear.
  9. Remove all spywares from the computer. I will put the review of all anti-spyware softwares sometime tomorrow. And let me tell you something about it. Spywares are one of the worst thing you would want on your computer. If you haven't used a anti-spyware software before and have no idea about it you are running a windows then I can guarantee that you have more than 1000 spywares in your computer at least. So, Be aware of this.... And check my blog tomorrow where I will have the Best spyware reviews.
  10. Remove any unnecessary programs and/or items from Windows Startup routine using the MSCONFIG utility. Here's how: First, click Start, click Run, type MSCONFIG, and click OK. Click the StartUp tab, then uncheck any items you don't want to start when Windows starts. You need to have quite a knowledge of what are all the programs doing there. Need assistance? Email me!!!
  11. Remove any unnecessary or unused programs from the Add/Remove Programs section of the Control Panel.
  12. Turn off any and all unnecessary animations, and disable active desktop. In fact, for optimal performance, turn off all animations. Windows XP offers many different settings in this area. Here's how to do it: First click on the System icon in the Control Panel. Next, click on the Advanced tab. Select the Settings button located under Performance. Feel free to play around with the options offered here, as nothing you can change will alter the reliability of the computer -- only its responsiveness.
  13. If you are an advanced user use some registry tweaks. I will talk about them in detail after next couple of blogs.
  14. Buy a good anti-virus software if you don't have one, and clean all the viruses in your computer. Make sure they update themselves quite frequently, like every hour. Click this link to view the review of top ten best anti-virus softwares.
  15. Make sure the customer has fewer than 500 type fonts installed on their computer. The more fonts they have, the slower the system will become. While Windows XP handles fonts much more efficiently than did the previous versions of Windows, too many fonts -- that is, anything over 500 -- will noticeably tax the system.
  16. Do not partition the hard drive. Windows XP's NTFS file system runs more efficiently on one large partition. The data is no safer on a separate partition, and a reformat is never necessary to reinstall an operating system. The same excuses people offer for using partitions apply to using a folder instead. For example, instead of putting all your data on the D: drive, put it in a folder called "D drive." You'll achieve the same organizational benefits that a separate partition offers, but without the degradation in system performance. Also, your free space won't be limited by the size of the partition; instead, it will be limited by the size of the entire hard drive. This means you won't need to resize any partitions, ever. That task can be time
  17. Check the system's RAM to ensure it is operating properly. I recommend using a free program called MemTest86. The download will make a bootable CD or diskette (your choice), which will run 10 extensive tests on the PC's memory automatically after you boot to the disk you created. Allow all tests to run until at least three passes of the 10 tests are completed. If the program encounters any errors, turn off and unplug the computer, remove a stick of memory (assuming you have more than one), and run the test again. Remember, bad memory cannot be repaired, but only replaced. You can find that program in the following link: http://www.memtest86.com/download.html.
  18. If the PC has a CD or DVD recorder, check the drive manufacturer's Web site for updated firmware. In some cases you'll be able to upgrade the recorder to a faster speed. Best of all, it's free.
  19. Disable unnecessary services. Windows XP loads a lot of services that your customer most likely does not need.  For this, I will have another blog on which services you should disable and how...
  20. If you're sick of a single Windows Explorer window crashing and then taking the rest of your OS down with it, then follow this tip: open My Computer, click on Tools, then Folder Options. Now click on the View tab. Scroll down to "Launch folder windows in a separate process," and enable this option. You'll have to reboot your machine for this option to take effect.
  21. At least once a year, open the computer's cases and blow out all the dust and debris. While you're in there, check that all the fans are turning properly. Also inspect the motherboard capacitors for bulging or leaks. For more information on this leaking-capacitor phenomena, you can read numerous articles on my site in near future. So, I recommend everyone to subscribe it.
  22. And give some rest to your computers. Do, not turn it on for a long time like for days or something... Turn it off, I am not talking about hibernating or putting it in standby mode, just turn it off. This makes your computer feel a lot better otherwise you will have a lot of crash problems and instability in the future...
Following these suggestions should result in noticeable improvements to the performance and reliability of your computers. If you still want to defragment a disk, remember that the main benefit will be to make your data more retrievable in the event of a crashed drive.

Do You want to earn something when searching in google?

If you are interested in earning something when you are searching then I have something to tell ya'all.

First of all, let me tell you what I mean by this. There is a search engine, powered by google.com and ask.com, where you can earn a different kind of bucks when you search through it. It gives you same kind of result but the difference will be that you will actually be earning something. They will give you one swag buck for one search and it will go to your account. Now, you may be asking "what in the world is swag bucks?". Its different kind of money where you collect them from this website or search engine and trade that in for different items on that same search engine website. The items that you can find are like xbox 360, camera, iPhone and a lot more stuffs. The main things you can find there are the gift cards like the amazon.com giftcards apple gift cards and a lot more. There are also a lot books, magazines, electronics, movie, TV, beauty stuffs and many more. There will be the swag bucks price tag on the items to find out how many swag bucks you need to get something. So, it is basically like you search, like you do in google.com but the difference you will make would be, you will also be earning. You always search, anyway you are going to search through google, so why not get some benefit while doing the same thing you will do anyway.  And you can always play the lottery anytime in there to get more benefits. To play one you just have to spend one swab buck. You can play for lottery like win 100 swag bucks with you one swag buck.
So, think about it. There's nothing to lose, all you will do is win more and more.

I think this is a very good website because they are actually paying you do something that you will do in anyway. So, I think everyone should consider this and make something out of the kind work that you will do anyway. If you are interested click the link below or the banner at the top that says "SEARCH AND WIN" and really search and win.

Here's the link:
http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/SujitPoudel

All you have to do is sign up the form that you will at the beginning of the page and they will offer you 3 swag bucks for free just to start up. That link takes you to the registration page and you can register from there and after that you can just type in swagbucks.com and search and earn and redeem.:D

And another great thing about it is that, the more people you refer the more you earn...
That means lets say, you join that website, and refer it to a friend, then you will earn all that they have earned and if they refer to someone else, then you will be earning from both of those people. So, it is like a chain...
And more you refer more you earn...

So, I strongly recommend this to everyone.

Looking for best Anti-Virus Softwares???

Are you looking for the anti-virus softwares? The best antivirus software you can get in the market right now? Here, I am going to have some review about some of the best antiviruses you can find as of today's date.  But you must understand that eventhough the antivirus is ranked number 1 it can never be perfect.

So, here are the list of those antiviruses as per their current performances:

10. Avira Premium AntiVirus: I have put this antivirus in the number 10 position because of several reasons. It is indeed a good antivirus, that is why it is in the top ten position. So, the drawback of this antivirus is that it may not work on windows 7. Since many user have switched to windows seven now, the company should be making another version of this software to match up the compatibility with all the windows now. The average market price for this antivirus is $26.95, which I think is like a average antivirus price. But it have good habit of detecting the malwares(antivirus, spywares, adwares and so on). It can detect well more than 93% of the malwares. I will rate this antivirus as 7.8 out of 10.
http://www.avira.com/

9. Trend Micro Antivirus: This is another good antivirus. The downside I found about this anti-virus is that it does not have all the certification required for an anti virus to have. And it is not supported in windows XP 64 bit edition and windows 2000. So, same kind of problem like the previous one but it have more malware detection capability which is slightly above 94%. It average market price value is $39.95 which I think is slightly high. But that much of the money is worth the security. 7.9 / 10
http://TrendMicro.com/

8. F - Secure AntiVirus: F-Secure is also very good at detection of the antiviruses. It have more features like internet security and more web protection than other previous antiviruses. It have very less number of additional features like adjustable security levels, user profiles and self defense. The scope of protection for this anti-virus is impressive but I think there are other anti-virus that are have better scope of protection. You may find this anti-virus at something like $39.99 on the market. And it also doesnot work on XP 64 bit version of windows and windows 2000. I will give this anti-virus about 8.1 / 10
http://www.f-secure.com/

7. G - Data Anti-virus: The downside of this anti-virus is that it does not check the spams and cannot auto detect the USB drive. This is also like the same as F - Secure in additional feature side, where both of them does not have a lot of those. The scope of protection for this anti-virus in very good. And you can find this anti-virus at $24.95, which I think is a very good price. There are only few good antivirus which are as cheap as it is. And the only windows platform it does not work is windows 2000. It works in both 32 bit and 64 bit of windows XP, Vista and 7. I rate this to be 8.3/10

6.  AVG Anti-Virus: This is pretty popular anti-virus. I lot of people I see have the free version of this anti-virus. But here remember that I am not talking about the free version of this antivirus. It is the premium version of it. I do not prefer to have the free version of this anti-virus for few reason. So, here I am not talking about it. So, about the premium version of AVG anti-virus. This version of the this antivirus is very good one. It have more additional features than the previous anti-viruses. It is also very good at detecting the viruses.Updates frequently. And it also have a very good scope of protection. It is supported in all windows system. The downside of this anti-virus is that it does not have the spam protection, network security and few other ignorable features. You may find this version of AVG Anti-Virus at about $34.99 on the market. I will rate this as 8.5 / 10.

5.  ESET Nod32 Anti-Virus: Well, this Anti-Virus is my personal favorite. I have using this anti-virus for 3 years now. It gives me all the protection I need from the malwares. The virus detection rate for this antivirus is about 97.3%. You can get this in two type of security program. One is just the anti-virus and the other is smart Security,  which have better protection from internet. The downside of this program is that, it does not protect you from the hackers and spams. But considering all other things included in this program, I think it is very good anti-virus package. You may find this anti-virus at about $39.99 on the market, which is above average price but still it is really protective. And the other thing is about this anti-virus is that I have used it in all windows platforms and a lot of kind of processors. It even works well enough with Pentium III computers. So, I will rate this anti-virus as 8.9 / 10
http://ESET.com/

4. Kaspersky Anti-Virus: Some people may not agree with this anti-virus being at this number(might think it is better than being at number 4), but I think that this is the best position for this anti-virus. Let me talk about the downside of this anti-virus first. The first thing I think is that it is pretty expensive than any other anti-virus you would buy. It would cost you something like $59.95. And other thing is that, if you have some old computer then the performance of your computer will not be as good as it was before. It degrades. It will more of a burden to the old computers. But for all other things this anti-virus is very good one. It have a lot of additional features and everything needed for an anti-virus software. And It can detect almost every malwares in your computer. It can detect upto 99.3% of the malwares in your computer. I will rate this as 9.3 / 10.
http://www.kaspersky.com/

3. Norton Anti-virus: This is also another one of the most popular and most oldest anti-virus of all. The performance of the this product during 2006 and 2007 was not so good. I didn't liked this anti-virus at all those days. But it have done a lot better. This is fast and effective. The downside is that it is not compatible to 64 bit of windows xp and windows 2000. It can detect viruses well over 98% and also have all the additional features required for the computer protection. You can find this at average price of $39.99 on the market. I rate this as 9.4 / 10
http://www.Norton.com/

2. Webroot Anti-virus with spysweeper: As name suggests, this antivirus comes with a additional product called the spysweeper. SpySweeper is a anti-spyware(spyware is another kind of virus like program from the internet). So, it completely protects your computer from the spywares as well. It also have very high rate of virus detection capability of about 99%. And this is the only one anti-virus on this list that can also detect the spams and clean them for you. So, it is overall a good protection software and you can get this at about $29.95 which I think is really cheap. And I rate this as 9.6 / 10
http://www.webroot.com/

1.  BitDefender Anti-Virus: This anti-virus have been claiming the number one position among the all anti-virus list for a long time now. It is completely reliable. It also detects all kind of malwares including the spywares at very impressive rate of 99.3% and have good descent price of $24.95. The downside for this as I can see is that it does not work on windows 2000 and it doesnot have the network security system in it. But if you are just looking for an antivirus software then I think this should be the best choice of all. I will rate this to be 9.8 / 10.
http://www.BitDefender.com/

Having a good Anti-Virus software is strongly recommend. And to protect your information and many things in your computer, the anti-virus programs that you can find today are a lot more efficient than ever.
